Honourable Mark A.G. Brantley has taken a leave of absence from the Firm to pursue his political career. He is the Premier of the island of Nevis as of the 19th day of December, 2017 and holds the ministerial portfolios of Finance, Statistics, Economic Planning, Human Resources, Industry, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Tourism, Government Information Service and Nevis Television, Public Utilities and Energy and Foreign Investments. He is also an elected member of the Federal Parliament of St Christopher and Nevis, and served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation for St Christopher and Nevis from 2015-2022. Honourable Brantley previously served as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis (2007 – 2015) and again serves in that position as of 2022. He is married and has 2 adult daughters.

Honourable Brantley read law at the University of the West Indies, obtained his Legal Education Certificate of Merit from Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica and holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford, St. Catherine’s College. He has also been recognized with honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis and the University of Bolton in the United Kingdom.

He has practiced extensively before the High Court and Court of Appeal and provided representation in several commercial disputes including a shareholder dispute in a company valued at over US$3 billion and the first-class action law suit brought in the Eastern Caribbean under the provisions of the Civil Procedure Rules 2000 representing over 120 Claimants. Some of the notable cases in which he has been involved include The Nevis Island Administration v. La Copropriete Du Navire J31 et al (Rawlins, JA); Platinum Trading Limited v. Craig Reeves (CA); Gigi Osco-Bingeman et al v. John Paul de Joria (HC and CA); Hotel de Health (Caribbean) Inc. v. Ronald Webster (CA); Hansa Bank v. The Attorney General of Anguilla (HC); The Attorney General of St. Kitts & Nevis & Anor. v Queensway Trustees Limited (HC and CA); Surfside Trading Limited v. Joe Brice et al (HC). Honourable Brantley has also provided representation in litigation involving an international company of strategic interest in the Russian Federation valued at over US$30 billion. He has also appeared as an expert witness in litigation in Singapore and provided expert written testimony on aspects of Nevis law in several other proceedings internationally.
